Our goal as gardeners is to have an abundant harvest, but what are some of the best ways to get the produce we desire? On this episode, Joe shares tips for achieving that desired harvest. He also answers some of those tough questions every gardener faces over the years about when to harvest or plant disease.
We also get to visit Mary Beth Shaddix, a young corporate type that decided farming was more her passion then an office. Mary Beth left her job at Cooking Light Magazine to use her skills to grow and harvest fruits and vegetables to their prime. Despite leaving the magazine, she eventually found her way back – but this time as the farmer who supplies the produce for all the photography and recipes developed for the magazine.
Mary Beth takes us on a tour of her farm and garden and gives us some tips on how she keeps it looking so good. We then follow her on one of her trips to Cooking Light Magazine and get a behind-the-scenes look at how they get that perfect magazine look. Finally, you’ll get a taste of what they do at the end of the day with all that left over produce.
Our canning expert, Theresa Loe shows us how to freeze an abundant harvest so nothing goes to waste.
And Joe takes us back to the GGW garden set and shows us how to best start at planting time and makes a specific tool to help making planting a more simple process.
