We could bet that at some point in your life you’ve had a favorite store, one that you went to all the time and could never get enough of. For us, ours is an Independent Garden Center.
Today, we are going to visit two of the countries best IGC’s, or Independent Garden Centers, to explore why they are so valuable to any level gardener and how they can help you with your gardening needs.
We had the honor of spending some time in Austin, Texas at The Natural Gardener. This beautiful location is seated on 8 acres of rustic Texas hill country. Known for its pioneering work in organic gardening and sustainable living, this facility is a world class gardening destination. Independent Garden Centers love to do and provide many things. One of those things is teaching. The Natural Gardener provides everything from teaching gardens, classes, farm animals, and a wildlife habitat.
We caught up with John Dromgoole, the man behind The Natural Gardener. He gave us an inside look into what goes on at The Natural Gardener and the value they bring to their customer.
Our next stop is also in Austin, Texas. Located 10 miles East of Austin, this IGC is an urban garden center. The Great Outdoors garden center uses appropriate plant choices to inform, inspire and motivate their guests. They pride themselves on their customer service and the knowledge that their staff has of their products. They want everyone to have a unique experience each every time they visit. Some of the few ways they do this is by bringing in the best and newest plants available and by providing educational seminars for their customers.
And later, Joe shows step-by-step how to make a terrarium that is sure to give you years of enjoyment.

I would like to have the pattern for making the planting board for sowing seeds and using in the garden. Please send me that if possible. My sincere appreciation. Ann Smith
