We love to hear stories of young people making a difference in the world and that is why today’s story really struck a cord with us. In today’s episode, we tag along with four young farmers who are traveling the country in a retrofitted school bus. Now, that may not sound very unusual. But there’s more! This bus has a greenhouse, rain collections system, composting system, solar panels and a living space for the farmers. And the bus runs on waste vegetable oil!
These four farmers are traveling the country teaching urban dwellers about edible gardening, nutrition and alternative energies. We’ll learn how they live, work and grow food in the this confined space, discover their secrets for making this all work and follow along as they visit other farms, schools and communities to spread the word about growing food in a sustainable way.
We’ll also learn the story behind this mobile bus project and see how they put the whole thing together from recycled materials. Trust us – These farmers are really inspiring.
