Producing wines that are as good for the earth as they are on the palate is a proposition far too risky for most wineries. But not for Fetzer Vineyards—one of America’s largest commercial wine producers. Their commitment to being earth-friendly is reflected in everything they do. From the sustainable methods used to grow and manage their crops, to how they process waste, even to the energy consumed to run their company; it’s all green.
In this episode, we get an insider’s look at some of the ways they’re keeping it earth-friendly, and share with viewers how they can apply some of those techniques to get great results in their home gardens.
Hello Joe!
Just enjoyed this episode on our local PBS station WQPT. I am sitting in my living room watching the temp struggle to get to the low teens, and a show like this one was just what I needed for a little pick-me-up. I always look forward to February so I can get a mild day to prune my mini vineyard (5 plants my dad planted in 1964) so we can get a crop for my brother to make his family-famous grape pie. This episode got me thinking about doing a small drip irrigation system on the arbor instead of the usual sprinkler system I have used since buying the place back in 1972 after my discharge from the Army. Once again, I thank you for the opportunity to still see garden shows on TV (I still cuss HGTV for no longer showing any). And please tell Nathan how delicious his risotto recipe looked. I am definitely going to try that one!
Best wishes for 2018!
